Vattakottai Fort, also known as the Circular Fort, is a historic seaside fort located about 7 km from Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. Built in the 18th century during the reign of the Travancore kingdom, it served as a coastal defense fortification.
The fort is rectangular in shape, surrounded by strong walls that are 25-26 feet high. It includes watch towers, weapon rooms, and other sections. Constructed under the supervision of Captain Eustachius De Lannoy, it was one of the last seaside forts built by the Travancore kingdom
The fort offers stunning views of the ocean and the Western Ghats. It's also known for the nearby black sand beaches. The fort has been restored and developed as a tourist attraction, preserving its historical importance
