The Kumara Koil Murugan Temple, also known as Veli Malai Kumarakoil, is a revered temple dedicated to Lord Murugan. It is located at the foothills of Veli Malai in the Padmanabhapuram area, near Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu.
The main deity is Lord Murugan, depicted in a monolithic sculpture measuring 8.5 feet. Goddess Valli, his consort, is depicted alongside him, standing at 6.5 feet. The temple is accessed through a flight of 40 steep steps, leading to the sanctum. The temple showcases traditional Dravidian architecture.
The temple is associated with the legends of Valli's marriage to Murugan. It is believed that Lord Murugan performed a yagna (sacrificial ritual) here to marry Valli. The temple celebrates the divine wedding of Valli and Murugan with great fervor during the Tamil month of Panguni (March-April)
